Does anyone know how to explode arc text so that it can be veiwed on a machine that does not have express tools loaded?

RE: ARC TEXT

Hi,
do You have an arc-aligned-text??? It can be "_explode".
(Easy. or what did You mean?)
or You can use "dxbout"

Yes it is arc-aligned text by using the express menu option. Everytime I explode it, it mirrors itself and every letter too. Takes very long to get it back to looking right.

RE: ARC TEXT

Hi,
I couldn't reproduce Your Problem. If the textstyle is identically, the sv "MIRRTEXT" on 0, the ucs on world,in both(!) *.dwgs, I don't know any solution.

RE: ARC TEXT

Express Tools also has the Txtexp command. (Text Explode).
The Express Tools help file gives this explination, Text Explode - Explodes Text or MText into geometry that can be assigned a thickness or an elevation.
Have you tried this?

I have tried this.. The command line reads
Select objects: 1 found, 0 total
1 was filtered out.
So even that doesn't work on "arctext"

RE: ARC TEXT

make sure the font defined in the text style is available to the machine that can't view them as arc text.
also if it is, then in the arc text editor try format -> reverse order before you explode.

hope this helps

Nice trick. It worked kind-of.
After mirroring and then rotating back into possition, I find that the arc of the text has changed, so I need to move each individual letter into place. I wonder if 2004 has fixed this.

RE: ARC TEXT

after further review, have noticed that if the arc text direction is "inward to the center" then it reverses when exploded,
try this: in arc text editor, format -> direction -> outward from the center. then adjust as needed so text looks good then try to explode. seems to work here for both
acad 14 & 2002.

also these forums need a spell checker!

hope this helps

RE: ARC TEXT

ozzy84,

spell checks take the fun out of some typos and besides no one really cares that much.

RE: ARC TEXT

Just to follow up on EXIT's suggestion ...
The DXBOUT needs to be a PRINTER.
Go to "ADD-A-PLOTTER WIZARD"

On my PC, it's ...

Go to C:\Acad2000\Plotters
Double click on "ADD-A-PLOTTER WIZARD"
NEXT
(select) MY COMPUTER
NEXT
(left side : select) AutoCAD DXB File
NEXT
NEXT
NEXT
(Give it a name "PLOT TO DXB FILE")
NEXT
FINISH

Hope that helps someone.
