importing dxf to proe
importing dxf to proe
(OP)
hi,
when I import dxf files to proe2000i, a warning arises about the format size. I use mm in autocad. How do I select units in 2000i and please tell me how to change the tolerence or accuracy limit between two points during importing.please do help me solve the problem.
thanking you in advance.

I haven't done this for a while, but try it to refresh my memory and get back with you.

RE: importing dxf to proe
When you import a dxf file that was made from an Autocad drawing with scaled views, the geometry typically comes in full size, and the format and text are scaled up or down inversely to the apparent drawing scale. For example, a dxf file of an A3 size drawing with half scale views will import as an A1 size drawing with full scale views. I usually ignore the warning about drawing format size when importing a dxf file so that the geometry comes across at full scale. You can then rescale the geometry to fit on the apprpropriate sized format after it's in Pro/E (Tools, Rescale), and change the draft scale parameter of the drawing to match. This parameter and the one that controls the drawing units are contained in the drawing setup file. I don't remember if the menu picks were different in 2000i, but to edit this file in 2001 you select Advanced, Draw Setup, and modify the setting for drawing units and draft scale.

Your tip on importing really worked, although I had to spend some time over it,the results were fruitful.
