SCADA Topology

SCADA Topology

SCADA Topology

(OP)
I invite your comments on following SCADA topologies :
connecting IED's in star topology via a star coupler Vs connecting IED's in Ring topology via a switch

RE: SCADA Topology

What is the communications channel?  If it's fiber, I'd go with a star topology if possible.  We've seen problem using fiber rings with IED's due to incorrect handling of the repeated signal.

Even for RS-485 or Ethernet, star is probably a safer, more reliable and simpler implementation, as long as distances are not too long.

RE: SCADA Topology

Hai HiSet I encounter the same problem.

dpc, if some of the Ied in one substation are daisychained  RS485 and in another substation has newer relay that has 10BaseT connection. and every substation connected by OPGW (that would be single mode FO). The length beetwen substation about 20 km. which one doyou choose ?
