Integration Mechanical Desktop - ProE

Integration Mechanical Desktop - ProE

Integration Mechanical Desktop - ProE

(OP)
I am in charge of change our Mechanical Desktop 6 platform to a new CAD software. I am biased to choose Pro-E Wildfire.

We have thousands of files in dwg format.
1. How can I use them in Pro-E?
2. Is there a good translator in Pro-E?
3. Can I use native dwg in Pro-E to make assemblies, just like Inventor do (and don’t do actually)?
4. Will I have to export and import in iges, step or another intermediate format and redefine all features again in Pro-E (I hope this won’t be solution)?

RE: Integration Mechanical Desktop - ProE

This is just about 2001. I don't usually use a new release until all the bugs have been fixed
1. You can import your drawings (dwg)into Pro/E either as they are, or as DXF.
2 Can't use drawings to make assemblies, or parts.
3. You can import and use IGES and STEP files as they are, but you will not be able to redefine them. If you want to be able to change them, or redefine them, you'll have to create them from scratch.
