I would like to know the procedures for Inspection of High Pressure/ Low pressure Vessels without shut down of operation. The inspection is for Corrosion testing etc. The Ultrasonic Inspection.

RE: in service Ultrasonic Inspection

I take it that the safety of the inspector is not a priority for your organization!  If this is so, just use a high temp couplent and a stand-off to protect the transducer from thermal failure.

RE: in service Ultrasonic Inspection

the procedure is the same whether on line or off apart from the need to use a high temperature couplant and a high temperature probe but as we dont  know what the temperature of your vessels are this is just for information. As long as you can safely access the vessel it can be done without  problems. you probably need to scaffold , and may need to remove insulation if it exists other wise being in service makes no difference

RE: in service Ultrasonic Inspection

See ASTM SE-797
