RE: hi.. instead of using my small P

Like taking the stereo output from your sound card and running it to the input (like mix, or audio in) on a stereo reciever?  Are you looking for a RCA to stereo convertor cable?

hi melone..thanks..

yup that is the what i want...once in a while i listen to live broadcast via internet from my native country and instead of listening to my small PC speaker, i want to feed it to my stereo....yes, it is like audio in...

how do i do that just the RCA cable?

thanks again,
melone

RE: hi.. instead of using my small P

If you are taking the sound from the sound card keep in mind that the quality depends on the sound card.  You probably want a sound card with at least Dolby Digital 5 or 6.  Look for a sound card with a 24 bit sampling rate.  The sound card is the weakest link.  You should be able to import a Dolby Digital Signal.  You may need to have a splitter for the different channels or a device that can import Dolby Digital Surround Sound input.  Sound cards may also have a separate output for every channel.

RE: hi.. instead of using my small P

You are correct ceh4702 in stating the quality depends on the sound card, but if dydt is just trying to pipe live radio broadcast from the internet to her stereo almost any sound will be adequate.

dydt first in order to do this check your sound card hopefully it has a line out connector. This may be 2 RCA plugs, but is most probably an 1/8" stereo mini phone jack. If it doesn't you can use the speaker output, but turn down the audio output volume in Windows or whatever OS you are using (distortion is bad). You will want to find either a cable with an 1/8" stereo mini phone plug on one end and 2 RCA plugs on the other or an adapter to do this and an RCA cable. Also make sure your stereo has a free set of RCA inputs. Be careful if using an input marked Phono as some stereo systems have a built in RIAA preamp on this channel due to the very low output of older phonographs. That's about it.
