I need Know on saturation test in solid waste, for determine the porosity,( specific gravity of solid waste, void ratio)

RE: saturation

Hi in the case of soil one can easily find out the parameters what you mentioned.
void ratio = volume of voids/volume of solids
Degree of saturation = Volume of water/volume of voids
For this what to do is , first take the reference weight of saturated solid waste and find out its bulk or saturated unit weight and corresponding water content through oven drying of sample. Then calculate the dry unit weight of sample using volume relations in basic soil mechanics. Once having known the specific gravity and and dry unit weight you can easily calulate void ratio. Also knowing the void ratio you can find out degree of saturation. Please refer any basic soil mechanis text book for the volume relations.
Thanking you
wish you good luck
