Mechanical Design of Distillation Columns

Mechanical Design of Distillation Columns

Mechanical Design of Distillation Columns

(OP)
Hi everyone!
Got a big problem, can someone please help?
Need to do a mechanical design of a distillation column that i've already chemically designed i.e. number of plates, pressure, and temperature are known. How do I calculate longitudinal and circumferential stresses and how do these change after a number of years of corrosion???
i'm completely lost!!!
Thanks for your help!

RE: Mechanical Design of Distillation Columns

Most distillation columns are designed to ASME Sec. VIII, Div.1 or Div.2 rules for pressure vessels.  In addition to pressure and temperature considerations, seismic and wind loading must be considered.  This is a very detailed area of expertise and should be handled by someone familiar with the design and analysis methods required.
