High glycol pH

High glycol pH

High glycol pH

(OP)
Gas exiting amine plant is increasing the pH of TEG solution within the dehydration plant downstream.

pH has gone as high as pH 10. we seek information from those with experience. How can we bring down the pH to acceptable level.

What is the acceptable level and what chemical can we use, and at what point is best to inject the chemical.

Literature sources suggest phospkoric or acetic acid.

RE: High glycol pH

You should maintain TEG  pH within 7.0 ~ 8.5. Our TEG pH now 8.5 /8.8. You can inject pH control chemicals upstream of Glycol still column(i.e.,inlet to flash drum , reach glycol line). Your idea of becoming pH high in TEG is good , I agree. However we have before low pH due to CO2 absorption and we use Corexit6752to down the pH. Adding continuos pH control chemicals not advisable. You should check your sweet gas KOD demister pad. Frequent foaming in amine absorber should avoid.
