BCT's on Recloser
BCT's on Recloser
(OP)
Hello.
What's the proper way of wiring a Circuit recloser used as a main protection of a radial feeder with BCT's on both loadside and lineside. The loadside BCT's are wired to the ground trip of the recloser. We need to a set of currents for monitoring purposes only (Ammeter Reading) and the other set is for protection (wired to protection relays). Is it better to have the loadside BCT's (with recloser ground trip) wired to protection relays or the other way around.
Thanks in advance.

RE: BCT's on Recloser
Recloser (ANSI 79)
Designed mainly for overhead lines, used to clear
transient and semi-permanent faults, limiting user
service interruptions as much as possible. It consists
of resupplying power to the circuit that has been
interrupted by the protection after a time delay
required for isolation to be restored with the power off.
The number and type of reclosing cycles are variable
and can be adjusted by changing the settings.
Therefore, the BCTs should be used from that side where the semi-permanent faults are expected or probable.
