3D SKETCH WIREFRAME

3D SKETCH WIREFRAME

3D SKETCH WIREFRAME

(OP)
Hi, everyone! I design fixtures for parts that come in IGES format. After import, the SWX files are huge but still I'm able to manage them in model/assy environment (files are collections of “surface-imported" features). The problem occurs when I have to make the assy drawing of my fixture. Due to imported parts, create/regeneration of views takes to much time. All I need in dwgs is to show how this parts are located in fixture and for this I need just a “contour" or a "silhouette" of this parts, something like a "wire frame" if you want. But how to create this "wire frame”!? A good candidate seems to be a 3D sketch that follows the boundary of main surfaces that I have in my part. I am not able to find a productive way to extract these boundaries!  I can just individually select the surfaces edges end “converted to entity” to 3d sketch. But this works easy just for simple parts…

RE: 3D SKETCH WIREFRAME

You can get a silhouette under "Insert-->Curve-->Split Line"

It may be worth your time and money to get some repair software like Capvidia to get your imports solid.  SW just works better that way.

We pay for a lot of translation from CATIA and IDEAS.  It pays off quickly in terms of time saved (usually about 3-4 hours of my burden rate).  I HIGHLY recommend mathdata.com for this.
