UNICAM and FABMASTER FILES

UNICAM and FABMASTER FILES

UNICAM and FABMASTER FILES

(OP)
In general, what data do these two file formats contain and where is it used in the manufacturing process - PCB fab, PCB assembly, or both?  I've noticed some assemblers want UNICAM, others want FABMASTER (and a few now want ODB++).

RE: UNICAM and FABMASTER FILES

At my job we use a modifed version of UNICAM (called Fujicam) to write programs for FUJI surface mount machines. The programs contain placement information such as which machines will place which components and where it will place them. We also use it sometimes to write assembly instructions from board prep, through smt, solderwave, second handload, test and final inspection.  Some of the other guys up here who work in test use fabmaster for something, but I have no experience with it.  Hope this helps.
