Single cylinder Balancing

Single cylinder Balancing

Single cylinder Balancing

(OP)
Hi there
Very sorry for this , I posted this already butfor some reason could not open the reply someone sent.

I have a single cylinder motorcycle engine .  What I want to do is get an estimate of the frequency and loads ..the operating range is between 2000 and 4000 rpm

for the frequency I was thinking of using

f=(1/2) (pi) (48EI/M L^3)^(1/2)

then for the Force

 F = M x ( 2 pi N)^2

then find the RMS of this
 Vrms = ( sum aplitude x sum frequency ) ^(1/2)

Am I anywhere near the ball park...
hope some one can help as I will then get a good Idea of a balance factor ..I hope

Regards in advance Stephen

RE: Single cylinder Balancing

RylEnfield,

Unfortunately the subject of engine balance and the various formulae for calculating it would be difficult to present in this format. Look into purchasing a copy of The Internal-Combustion Engine in Theory and Practice Volume 2 Revised Edition by Charles Fayette Taylor. Or some other equivalent book.

Good Luck
