SCALE REMOVAL AT BRAZED COPPER JOINT

SCALE REMOVAL AT BRAZED COPPER JOINT

SCALE REMOVAL AT BRAZED COPPER JOINT

(OP)
An argon gas purge was used when installing ACR, type L, cleaned for oxygen service copper piping to prevent oxidation. Scaling is being reported at the brazed joints. In lieu of making the installer remove the piping, can it be cleaned and how? Once the pipe is cleaned, can the scale be expected to return?

RE: SCALE REMOVAL AT BRAZED COPPER JOINT

The following page has a similar querry, and a few useful responses.

Sulfuric acid (which does not attack copper readily, but should remove scale) with some other additions seems to be the recommendation.

Don't know about your second question though, good luck.
