Combined Shear & Tension in Bearing-Type Connections

Combined Shear & Tension in Bearing-Type Connections

Can the formulas from Table J3.5 LRFD Vol. 1 be used for ASTM A153, Grade B5 (Fu=100ksi, FY=80ksi) and Grade B7 (Fu=125ksi, Fy=105ksi) ?

In other words can you use the Tension Stress Limit equations:

Thds. incl. in shear plane: 0.98Fu-1.9fv <= 0.75Fu
Thds. Excl. from shear plane: 0.98Fu-1.5fv <= 0.75Fu

Are these formulas valid for this grade steel or better yet any grade steel ?

The ASTM Standard should be A 193 instead of A 153.
