sufficient corrosion allowance for 30 years pipeline

sufficient corrosion allowance for 30 years pipeline

sufficient corrosion allowance for 30 years pipeline

(OP)
In a pipeline 16 inch downstream a treatment I have a fluid
having the following carachteristic:

Stream Molar Component Percents
CO2         4.371  E-05                                 |
H2S            0.000                                    |
H2O          5.391  E-03                                |
Design pressure 90 bar
temperature 50°C

Pipeline (long distance)
Design life 30 years
Material    API 5L X65
MAOP(bara)       98
DesignFactor    0.72
Min. allow.thk  6.1(mm)
C.A.            1.00(mm)
Nominal thk     7.1(mm)
Burial Depth    0.9 m as minimum

May I consider the 1 mm sufficient for this dehydrated oil?

RE: sufficient corrosion allowance for 30 years pipeline

I would suggest that you model your line from a corrosion perspective. Flow rate, topography etc. One such company, with a great model is CorrosionWatch. I believe their website is www.corrosionwatch.com or searh on the name.

RE: sufficient corrosion allowance for 30 years pipeline

I don't have the exact answer for this question. However, the external corrosion might be a serious problem for this underground piping system.
