3D to 2D UCS

3D to 2D UCS

3D to 2D UCS

(OP)
A drawing has a 3D ucs developed w/ acad 2000. Drawing is now worked on w/acad 20002.  3D ucs still remained eventho  we made several attempts to change to 2D ucs via : view p.d. menu > display> ucs icon> properties> ucs icon dialogue box: 2d selection.
What can be done to get the 2d ucs???

RE: 3D to 2D UCS

Just to clarify, you're talking about the UCSICON, right?

UCSICON->Properties->2D

I, personally, like the 3D UCSICON.  It's less intrusive.

RE: 3D to 2D UCS

ACAD20002? Is it still compatibel with ACAD2004

I tried CADaver's recommendation but it did not work.
Is it possible that once a 2D file is opened into a 3D environment, you can not change the 3D UCS back into a 2d format?  Remember the 3D UCS is of the AutoCAD 2000 configuration that I am trying to change eventho the program is currently running on 2002.

Hi chicopee,

is it possible to get a cut out of Your *.dwg? Maybe I understand Your Problem after that...?

RE: 3D to 2D UCS

Just as a note, AutoCAD is ALWAYS 3D.  There's not a 3D or 2D Environment or format, it's just that people running 2D ignore the third dimension (hoping it stays 0).

You keep saying UCS, is it your UCS that's the problem or the UCSICON?

The icon is the little axis arrow thingie in the lower left corner of the viewport.

Your UCS is the USER COORDINATE SYSTEM.  IF that's what you're having trouble with, you need to clarify it a little more.  Is it just your VIEWPOINT that's cockeyed, or is the UCS something other than WORLD?

To change the 3D UCS icon to a 2D icon, go to VIEW, then to SHADE and select 2D WIREFRAME. The UCS icon should revert back to 2D.

Urgen is right; just changing from 3D to 2D meshing did the trick-- a trick that I seem to have forgotten.
Thanks to all for your input.
