BaO is a DOT regulated compound (UN1564, packaging class 6.1, group III). I want to ship a glass powder containing BaO. Generally speaking glasses are like a solution but the components are bound up in the glass. For this reason the solubility of glasses is usually very low. I know that many vendors of glasses that contain BaO are shipping without hazardous material labeling. I would like to do the same but feel I need to know the justification for it. If you have any experience in this area please let me know.
