Long Tons

(OP)
What is a Long Ton and how can i comvert it to another volume?  Barrels would be the best unit for me.

thanks in advance

RE: Long Tons

It is not a measurement of volume.
A long ton is a measurement weight equivalent to 2240 pounds (lbs).  A short ton is 2000 lbs.
1 long ton is close to 1 metric ton = 1000 kg.

1 US barrel is 31.5 US gallons, or 4.21 cu. ft.  This is a volume measurement, and for water this is about 0.12 long ton in weight (NOTES that this is for water only... for other materials , it depends on density or unit weight).
