Program:Maintenance, Operation and Mechanical integrity considerations for Gas transmission and Distribution piping

The talk will cover natural gas pipelines covered by ASME B31.8 code. The presentation will focus on maintenance, operation and mechanical integrity considerations for gas transmission and distribution piping. The various design considerations, in-line inspection and evaluation aspects will be discussed.

Speaker:Michael J. Rosenfeld, Kiefner & Associates, Inc.

Michael J. Rosenfeld, PE, is a Senior Structural Engineer at Kiefner & Associates, Inc. His areas of expertise include structural mechanics, stress analysis, failure analysis, component design, pressure vessel and piping design, and piping repairs. Mr. Rosenfeld’s experience included the design and analysis of transmission and power piping, and various industrial and aerospace equipment and components. He has participated in several industry-sponsored projects, including the in-service relocation manual, guidelines for evaluating girth welds affected by corrosion, and research on dent mechanics. Mr. Rosenfeld is a member of the ASME B31.8 Section Committee, the B31 Mechanical Design Technical Committee, and the B31 Standards Committee.

Mr. Rosenfeld will be in Houston for the purpose of teaching an ASME short course on gas transmission and distribution piping and has graciously consented to speak to our technical chapter on the same topic.
