Vane Test

Vane Test

(OP)
I'd like to know the accuracy of the pocket vane test vs the field vane test (Nilcon). Are the results from the pocket vane reliables ?
Thanks

RE: Vane Test

Wow.  You asked a pretty tough question.

In my view, a pocket vane (torvane) is good for providing reasonable strength estimates.  It is far better than a pocket penetrometer, but not as good as a miniature vane.

I don't have any experience with Nilcon's vane; perhaps someone else has experience with their equipment?

RE: Vane Test

Are you referring to the spring actuated,  hand held device called a "Torvane"?
