Promoting grain growth in Ti-6-4
Promoting grain growth in Ti-6-4
(OP)
For cosmetic purposes we'd like to promote grain growth in Ti-6-4. I have recommended that they heat to very high temperatures and slow cool the sample. But I know a critical factor is time.
Does anyone have any recommendations on time. Obviously limiting grain growth is the normal mode of operation, but for this application we want to promote it.
Thanks in advance for any information.

D=Do exp (-Q/RT)
Thishould give a rate that you can then make some graphs of to start you off. The graphs I would use as a predictor to give me the range of options needed for a comprehensive experiment on grain growth in Ti-6-4.
Wow the cool thing is that if you cant find Q in the literature then with the proper experimental setup you could determine Q and (poossibly) have something thats publication ready.
