submodelling - finer mesh

(OP)
hi,
I have encountered a problem with a submodel. the submodel works out fine (3D model - elements (hex)). but sometimes while using a fine mesh (not really fine - it should be calculated within a minute) the analysis is terminated and there aren´t any comments in .dat or .msg or whatever why it does this. has anabody had a similar problem ?   (abaqus6.3).
thanks,
anton

RE: submodelling - finer mesh

It sounds as if you've ran out of space on your machine and Abaqus is unable to create a file to give you the error message. Try feeing up some space.

thanks for the comment, but I don´t think that is the problem (C: has 15GB of free space and the .res and .odb files nedd around 50MB). As well, meanwhile I have been running several other analyses (bigger jobs with different models - they worked out well). But the old problem still remains...

RE: submodelling - finer mesh

You could try looking in the dat file to see what the recommended memory size is for running the job, ie. pre-memory, standard memory, etc but I think these should return an error message if you haven't set these values correctly in the .env file. The log file might say something too but usually this says look in the msg file, which is no good if there's nothing in it.
