A-354 vs A490 Bolts

A-354 vs A490 Bolts

(OP)
Hello,

Does anyone know where to get allowable load information for A-354 bolts?. The ASD manual only gives the material strength in Table I-C but does not give allowable shear or tension loads. My feeling is that it is very similar to A-490 bolts but I would like some confirmation.

Thanks in Advance.
J. Smith

RE: A-354 vs A490 Bolts

PER ASD MANUAL, 9th Edition:

Table 1-D provides the allowable shear for A325 bolts, depending on the connection type.

Table 1-A provides the allowable tension.

Table J3.3 provides the allowable tension stress in combination with shear in bearing type connections.
