Seismic Code Requirements

Seismic Code Requirements

Seismic Code Requirements

(OP)
Does anyone know or can reference the seismic code requirements for mechanical equipment. This would involve a new york city wastewater treatment plant where the building is design to withstand seismic loads but what happens to ancillary equipment such as inlet air ductwork for a back up power generator. Does the code require seismic restraints for these systems?

RE: Seismic Code Requirements

The info you seek can be found in Chapter 14 of the "NEHRP Recommended Provisions for Seismic Regulations for New Buildings and Other Structures" prepared by the Building Seismic Safety Council for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. This info is provided for free by FEMA. Search the web for the address and phone number to order a copy.
