Is there any way to avoid hydrotesting of pressure vessels every year

Is there any way to avoid hydrotesting of pressure vessels every year

Is there any way to avoid hydrotesting of pressure vessels every year

(OP)

Is there any way to avoid hydrotesting of pressure vessels every year (statutory requirement). The plant is operational and would require a stoppage to carry out the hydrotesting.

If any one knows of any means to avoid the hydrotest and at the same time being within the statutory norms please do reply.

RE: Is there any way to avoid hydrotesting of pressure vessels every year

Where are you that requires you to hydrotest every year?  Are these process pressure vessels or small tanks?

If it's a regulatory requirement, you need to look at the regulations and see what, if any, exemptions there may be for hydrotesting.  If none are stated, you don't have any options to get around that IMO other than changing the law.

RE: Is there any way to avoid hydrotesting of pressure vessels every year

It is my understanding the PV maximum service stream periods are in the order of years. (4 to 10 depending on the corrosion growth trend) can you please elborate more; specifically why PV are surveyed every year and does the survey only include proof testing.

Refer to API-510, I shall outline plenty if more references in my next post.

The above is for Oil/Gas service.

Cheers
