depth of helicoils in aluminum

(OP)
when the depth for helicoil is nearly the thickness of
the material,is there an industry standard that states
through the material, rather than trying to achieve the
depth without bulging out the other side??
thank you in advance..

RE: depth of helicoils in aluminum

From my experience the Helicoil length is generally 1 to 1.5D for the thread engagement.  This engagement would therefore tend to dictate the thickness of material to be used during the components design.
