I have been following the "Moving to Canada" thread with interest.  However, I think this merits a new thread.

Has any of you out there ever been forced into not taking a new job due to an employment agreement's non-competition clause?

In my company there is a story about a person who was planning to move to a competitor. He was legally restrained, and he spent a considerable time sequestered in a do-nothing job until a year passed.

What?  No one else?  I suspected as much.

On justice and on friendship, there is no price, but there are established credit limits.

Okay, an acquaintance of mine had to lie low for a year after leaving the consulting firm he'd worked for. He's back in the saddle now; not sure what he did for the year.
