Adding layers for a novice

Adding layers for a novice

Adding layers for a novice

(OP)
Hi all

Me again! I apologise for being a complete novice here. I read your replies and feel lost in a world of alien chatter. Anyway Im sure it will all click...eventually.

Well I now have my data on perhaps 10 different drawings and now need to layer them together into only 3 drawings. So how do I get one layer on top of another and produce a final drawing. I know this is perhaps first day Autocad stuff after turning on your PC but honestly I only started Autocad 2 days ago and I have to get this report done by wednesday!

Thanks

Mark

RE: Adding layers for a novice

There's a couple of ways depending on what you're doing.  I guess XREF->OVERLAY would be the most useful.  Play with it a little and get back to us.

RE: Adding layers for a novice

If you are wanting them all into one drawing, then go to each drawing, type in "change" and then select all the items that you want to change into new layers and then select Properties >> Layer >> and then type in the layer name (layer must exist first). Save the drawing. Then just insert the drawing into your "master" drawing just like a block. The layers that they were saved with will be present in the drawing as you insert them into the drawing. I hope this helps.
