question in defining ports in microwave studio

question in defining ports in microwave studio

question in defining ports in microwave studio

(OP)
Hi, I tried to run simulation in Microwave studio but always have some problems with define the waveguid ports.

For example, i have some structure embedded in air and define two of the surfaces as ports. Then the simulation will abort saying: ports must have 3 unit cell in front of face. What does this mean?

RE: question in defining ports in microwave studio

I believe you need to have at least 3 cells worth of distance where the material is the same as the cross section of the port. In general, you should have a good length (maybe 1/8th lamda?)of waveguide between your port and any discontinuities, then de-embed (change the reference plane) back into the structure.
