Dimensions To Drive Sketch?

Dimensions To Drive Sketch?

Dimensions To Drive Sketch?

(OP)
Hi there,

As a native solidworks user I am using ACAD 2002 to do some layout drawings as SW tends to be clumsy for what I am trying to do.

I basically have the layout defined but as always I need to make an adjustment to some key dimensions on a plan view which in turn need to be applied to an elevation.

If you can picture the plan and a side elevation of a large ship, I am defining a rectangular area (hatched) on the side of the ship.  For various reasons I need to work with the Plan view and hence have defined the position vertical lines of the rectangle in the plan.  I need to create multiple positions/size of this rectangle.  Is there a way I can link the rectangle sides in Elevation to the Plan sketch.  Also is there a way to easily adjust position of the rectangle by using a dimension or something.

Hopefully I have described explicitly enough what I am trying to do

Thanks in Advance

Dave

RE: Dimensions To Drive Sketch?

Sounds like you need to use "Paper Space", which is the "Layout" tab at the bottom of the screen.

I'd draw the plan and elevation in "Model Space".
Then toggle to "Paper Space" and open to viewports.
Align the elevation with the plan and place your dimensions as you see fit.

The viewports in "Paper Space" should allow you position multiple views of the plan as you want for the multiple square positions you described.

Hope that helps.

Good Luck!
