I have two questions;
1. In some earthing applications of synch. generators, there is a one phase disconnecting switch which is located in the neutral side of the generator. One leg of the disconnector is connected to the earthing resistor.
I want to know, why are we using disconnector in the neutral side of the generator?
2. How can we select neutral resistor of a synchronous generator?which criterias are taking into consideration for selection of the earthing resistor?

3. Parallel operation of generators, if applicable
4. Some description of the downstream power distribution network.
5. Nature of the load/processes, such interruption of power supply cost, safety, etc.
6. Potentiall commitment to any standards.
7. Etc.
The switch is the neutral is for maintenance purposes and safety to personel since the power distribution may be charged, i.e. there may be some charging current from capacitive charges and relatively unsafe voltage level(s).
