What references are available for guidance on fluid mixing efficiency in a rectangular tank?  I'm looking for guidelines related to flowrates/turnover frequency for a recirculation-style mixing system. Thanks.

The best solution for optimalisation of mixing system is the physical modelling. The homogenisation performance is dependent on many parameters and can be expresed as functgion of  Re, Ga, Fr dimensionalles criterion.
I do physical modelling of homogenisation for glass industry. May be I could halp you if I know more detail about your problem.
