Notes in a model

Notes in a model

(OP)
I have an assembly drawing that uses a customer supplied part.  We have only quoted the job so far and we didn't have the customer supplied part when we made the drawings for the customer so some of the part is truly "sketched".  What is the best way to add notes to the model so we know to verify all the dimensions of this part once we get the order for the product?

RE: Notes in a model

We never make a part before the customer either sends us a final drawing and/or model w/ specifications, OR signs off on our drawing of the part.

If your drawing is preliminary, I would put that in big, bold letters on your drawing.

You can add notes to models and assemblies, as well.  Make sure that you have your annotations set to visible (right-click on "Annotations" in the model tree).  To be extra sure, set the font and font size on that note to something big and bold.

Gravity is a harsh mistress.

RE: Notes in a model

I usually append a short note under the dimension itself.  Something like "Verify before production" under EVERY dimension.  It's hard to miss a note like that in the shop, when it's basically on top of the dimension you're looking at.
