How much chucking pressure to apply ?

(OP)
Is there a formula that you could use to determine how much chucking pressure to use on a 3- jaw hydraulic chuck to ensure that your work to be machined does not slip in the jaws during maching process.  Normally its just a guess for us, but I would be interested in knowing if there is some math here that we could do to determine this.

Thanks
Scott
