column with multiple rings of rebars

column with multiple rings of rebars

column with multiple rings of rebars

(OP)
I have a column 100x100cm that was designed as a composite section with 44 nos dia 32 bars and H beam H400 in the middle.

Due to the difficulties in construction it was proposed that the  H beam is replaced with 24 nos dia 40 rebars

The total reinforcement of the column is 6.5% what is less then max allowed 8%. Its calculated Axial capacity based on the proposal is Ok

Is there any restriction in the code not to place longitudinal rebars in the middle part of the column if the column is loaded only centricaly with very minor moment

If somebody has done a similar column with reinforcement in the central part I will be grateful to receive that what I intend to do is correct

RE: column with multiple rings of rebars

Interior reinforcing is not a problem in itself.  However, 6.5% is quite a high reinforcing ratio.  Have you considered whether reinforcing congestion is a problem?  By the time you put the hoops in, there will not be much room for concrete.  Especially if the longitudinal bars will be spliced.  If the column dimensions cannot be increased, you may want to consider using self-consolidating concrete (SCC).
