Crack in high carbon, high chromium guide roll casting

(OP)
A cylindrical casting (510mm OD, 290mm Id , 200mmHt) is cast as per DIN G-X180-CrWVa20,ie a nominal chemistry of 1.9-2.0%C, 20% Cr,1.3-1.5%W, 0.8%Va, 0.3% Mo,0.3%Ni. This was annealed and the casting machined .The approximate weight of the casting is 180 kilos.

The  machined casting was hardened by oil quenching (Heat treatment parameters not known as it was done by the customer) Quenching cracks have been obseerved.

Please suggest suitable methods to achieve a hardness of 55-60RC uniformly in the casting.

RE: Crack in high carbon, high chromium guide roll casting

Briefly, with that much Cr it will air-harden nicely.
