Need 54" quick opening vessel body flange

Need 54" quick opening vessel body flange

(OP)
Ladies and Gentlemen,

Our 54" 150# water filter vessels are equipped with two body flanges for internals changeout. These are fitted with 48 or so bolts each.

It would be a great relief during maintenance to have a quick opening device, like a pig launcher door or clamp. I contacted Grayloc, but they do not have anything this size. Due to rubber lining, flange compression should be quite uniform.

I welcome suggestions for better solution to this irritating flange design!

Regards,

RE: Need 54" quick opening vessel body flange

This is skirting the issue somewhat, but do your mechanics/operators use an impact wrench?  We have many similar flanged ports on vacuum equipment, and we use an electric impact wrench.  It makes the job go quicker, and they can pretend they are on a NASCAR pit crew changing tires.

Both Yale and Peco make QOC's (quick opening closures).  A search on the web will give you many suppliers such as:

Try Plidco they manufacture pig launcher doors.
