EX-n current transformer info

EX-n current transformer info

(OP)
Greetings,
I have a job using a large (2000Hp med Vac)motor which is
rated Ex-n, hazardous area, zone 2, etc. I need to add a
current transformer to a single motor lead (300:5) for controlling a process. The c.t. is wired to a transducer in a safe area.

I am having trouble locating a Ex-n certified motor ct.
Any suggestions? Is it really required? Ex-n is for a
non-incendive device.
My customer requires Ex-n certification but I am not sure
where to get it.
Thanks,

RE: EX-n current transformer info

i doubt if you can source this Ex-n certified current transformer. i am not aware of any manufacturer doing this as this is a very specialized design and consequently, if there is a manufacturer that can do this, it could be at a very high price.

one possible solution that you might consider is to enclose a standard ct in a Ex-n rated enclosure. it follows that the glanding and cabling are all Ex-n rated and classified for use in that hazardous environment.
