RE: Pitting Corrosion in the headspace of a 2-piece tinplate can.

There is a recent and ongoing series of articles addressing your type of problem in the Magazine Spray Technology and Marketing.  You can find them at www.spraytechnology.com.  The author explains these types of problems very well and he takes email requests for information.  There are so many variables to evaluate, it cannot be fully addressed in this forum quickly: materials of container, method(s) of manufaturering, contents' compatibility, lining types and methods, sequence of processing and chemicals used, sequence of filling, vapor water content, etc.
