Features & Patterns & such in order of difficulty???

Features & Patterns & such in order of difficulty???

Features & Patterns & such in order of difficulty???

(OP)
For one of our products - basically a large Archimedes spiral screw pump - I have to layout the flights for weldment.
I can model the thing with a swept helix, but the finished assembly is rather taxing on my PC - ie. it takes too long to save the drawing and quite frequently my PC locks up.
Of course, there are other ways I can model this thing, but without trying and testing all my options, I wonder if anyone has a list for me.
This list would have all the SolidWorks features and patterns and such in order of difficulty.
Using this, I could probably model this screw pump the least taxing way the first time, thus saving some time and heartache.
Does such a list exist?
Anyone?

For example: I know that a swept helix is more complex - taxing - than say a rectangular extrusion. So then these two listed in ascending order of taxation would be:
RECTANGULAR EXTRUDE
SWEPT HELIX

Get it?
So, does such a list exist, or should we create one?

I think one needs to be created, and with that new tool in SW03, it should be easy... as long as a single part can contain all the features you want to list.

Have you checked out "Feature Statistics" it lists all the features plus it gives Time% & Time of a Rebuild.

Is this what your looking for or something similar.

RE: Features & Patterns & such in order of difficulty???

Try setting components to "Lightweight" when working on the assembly.

Also, try using "Rapid Draft" drawings (see your SW help).  This allows one to work on a drawing without fully loading its parent parts or assemblies.  "Rapid Draft" will also warn you if parts are "out of sync", that is, modified but not updated in the drawing.

Gravity is a harsh mistress.
