Line Break in Text

Line Break in Text

Has anybody figured out exactly what that special character is that makes a line break in the text?
I know I can copy/paste it from a detail title, but it would be clever to know the ASCI character code or something.

Actually, I asked our resident Excel guru - he figured out it is: ASCII CHAR(10).
This is the little mystery character.
If you make a drawing with a view at a scale other than the sheet format - the title of that view will be multiple-lines.
You can edit that text and see the little square box that makes the line-break.
But - until a few minutes ago - all I could do was copy/paste it into my design table to control the text in my BOM.
Now I know the ASCII character code" CHAR(10).
So, nevermind...

TateJ,

Yeah, but if you write it into a text box in Solidworks, the character code combination is different that if you write it in Excel and "push" the cell contents to say a Custom property...

What I needed was a way to create my custom property $PRP@DESCRIPTION in my BOM and control the line-break so the column's aren't too unreasonably long.
So, the character code in Excel is perfectamundo.

Scott - if you can show me how to use the character Map to get - & use - the code for a line break - I'll try it.

Actually, there is an easier way to do this. In excel, when you have a line that is too long, position your cursor where you want the break to be. Then hit Alt+Enter. That cell will then have 2 lines. I have never figured out what allows Excel to resize some rows and not resize other rows, so you may need to resize it.

OOOOH I see now your talking about the split line or column line in Excel. You didn't mention Excel in your first statement plus you mentioned ASCI character. I was thinking you were talking about actually Characters when writing text....I follow you now..
