UL 142 TANK

UL 142 TANK

(OP)
I am looking at a 20,000 gallon gasoline tank constructed to UL 142.  UL 142 does not have a design method or allowable stresses , rather, there are minimum thickness for a given size.

I notice that they require a hydro test pressure of 25 psig!

If this was an ASME Pressure vessel designed to 15 psi the hydro test pressure would only be 20 psig.

Has anyone looked at this method and determined that it is unsafe to hydro test at this high pressure for a non pressure vessel???
