Box analysis. Can it be done piece wise?

Box analysis. Can it be done piece wise?

(OP)
Hi,

I am trying to analyze a 304SS box with a lexan window. The box will hold air pressure at up to 10 inches of water. Is it valid to break the problem up into 6 pieces? That is, analyze one side at a time. I have Cadre Pro FEA available to me.

Thanks,
CB

RE: Box analysis. Can it be done piece wise?

Yes.  Any problem can be broken into smaller pieces as long as you set the boundary conditions correctly.  In this case, you might want to try both fixed and partially fixed boundary conditions to simulate the attachment of one side to the others.
