i just want to know some
details about linux..is there any development
environments for linux..i mean a tool like visual
studio for windows..if one wish to develop an
application for linux platform which IDE should he
choose.,.which db is best for db applications in
linux..hope u got my question

There are development tools for both KDE and Gnome available in Linux. Databases are mostly linked to SQL, there is MySQL, Postgress and Oracle available and you can use MsSQL also.

If you need a REALLY BIG database, you could always BUY DB4 from IBM.  It is the Linux version of the original DB2.
