defining members in STAAD

defining members in STAAD

(OP)
hi, Im new to STAAD and i would like to know how to define members that are not predefined in staad pro. Members such as Rectangular hollow sections (RHS). and square sections that were cut in half along its length.

RE: defining members in STAAD

You can use a PRISMATIC or GENERAL section type. In the Properties tab, this is under the Define button.

which one would be better for modelling a rhs section?

RE: defining members in STAAD

use GENERAL so you can do a CODE CHECK later (based on wide flange rules).
