Outfit that reduces facility energy Losses. Any Experience?
(OP)
Does anyone have any experience with these companies that survey and evaluate your electrical system. The they make claims they can reduce your electric bill by installing some of their fixes. They range from power conditioners at the motor with P.F. capacitors, surge suppressors, light ballast control, harmonic filters and even lubricants for your fridge machines. All of the technologies seem somewhat valid (i.e. reduce current on cables which reduces heat and losses, lower light circuits waveform reduces wattage, but may not be noticable to the eye, reduce friction in machines reduces losses) But the claim of 15% savings just seems unrealistic to me. But they guarantee the return, based on actual utility bill comparisions over the total year.

Return on investment for power factor correction is almost entirely defined by the serving utility’s tariff. Lighting power reduction will likely have less impact, and your process may determine if reduced lighting levels are tolerable. The rest, like surge limiting, "waveform correction/filters” and lubrication border on bunko schemes.
