Burker C Oil viscosity
Burker C Oil viscosity
(OP)
Dear Friends,
Can anybody tell me what is the viscosity of Bunker C Oil at 180ºC (356ºF) in SSU or centipoise units??
In fact im searching for this viscosity data for tar, but I understand it has the same viscosity of Bunker C Oil.
Best regards,
Luis A. Cristóbal V.

RE: Burker C Oil viscosity
You can download a spreadsheet for calculating viscosity at any temperature from www.solartronmobrey.com. (follow the bunker fuel link to the downloads) To use you need the viscosity at two temps. With only one you must estimate the second by trial and error. The curve will be similar to the other curves plotted there and you should also look for reasonable "A" & "B" values. Enter typical values and visually examine the plots (click the vertical scale and select log to assist here). This is a reasonable way to estimate the kinematic viscosity in centistokes at 180degC (enter this temp in the calculatioon table) especially as the nominal viscosity for Bunker C is so variable.
Next visit Norcross web site (http://www.viscosity.com/) for tables to convert between CSt and Saybolt (isn't saybolt now obsolete?)
