AutoCAD 14 Layer Printing

AutoCAD 14 Layer Printing

AutoCAD 14 Layer Printing

(OP)
In AutoCAD 2000 there is a way to set a layer up not to print. Is there a way to do this in AutoCAD 14? I tried puttting it on the defpoints layer but the note I need to see in the CAD file and not on printed paper disappears. I don't want to freeze or turn off the layer because anyone working on the files needs to read this note before they start. Can anyone help?

RE: AutoCAD 14 Layer Printing

It seems odd that when you put the notes on the DEFPOINTS layer it disappears on your drawing screen. I assume you don't have that layer OFF or FROZEN.  We use the DEFPOINTS layer frequently for non-plotting notes and have had no problem in R14.  Can you give me more details?

The layer is turned on and is not frozen or even locked. I always thought you could view that layer but it just wouldn't plot - maybe I should look thru the varibles to see if it's being caused by that.

RE: AutoCAD 14 Layer Printing

Pull up your layer control. On the far right it will dsiplay a printer looking icon. Click on it and it will not print the layer..
