Suspended slab replacing wood deck

Suspended slab replacing wood deck

Suspended slab replacing wood deck

(OP)
I would appreciate any comments or suggestions with regard to replacing an existing wood deck with a suspended slab.  The largest area is approximately 20' x 20'.  My particular concerns are:
1)Supporting the form deck on wood girders; attachment

2)Supporting the form deck / slab at the existing house band / foundation.

Thank you,
BEW

RE: Suspended slab replacing wood deck

It would be best if you contacted a local structural engineer to do the checking for you as a lot will depend upon the existing structure (ie its condition).

This forum could give various solutions but we would all be making a multitude of assumptions that should eb verified on site.

Good luck,

sc

RE: Suspended slab replacing wood deck

Codes usually don't allow concrete structures to be supported by wood.
